The most important meal of the day…

3595051588_cc4c25c36bI love breakfast food. Pancakes, eggs and bacon make me tingle inside. However, since starting this “change of lifestyle” I have began skipping breakfast altogether. I think to myself it’s just less calories going in that I have to deal with. I also have thyroid issues and take a pill in the morning and can’t eat anything for one hour after taking it. Sometimes I simply forget to eat. I noticed that Monday and Tuesday I was not in the best of moods. I was curious as to whether it was the fact that I hadn’t eaten breakfast either of those days. Today I ate one packet of oatmeal. Bingo. I felt better almost instantly. I’ve also done some research online and found that eating breakfast actually helps you lose weight. Not eating breakfast slows down your metabolism and you have a tendency to overeat later in the day. So, I am going to try and stick with eggs, oatmeal and/or fruit in the morning and see if that helps with not only my mood but also with my weight lose. I have a feeling it will.

The day I wrote my first blog entry I had already started my lifestyle change a week before. At that time I weighed 206. As of this morning I was down to 202. It would really encouraging to be below 200 by the time January 1st rolls around. However, with Christmas parties and special treats being dropped off at the office it would not surprise me if I didn’t reach that goal but I will try nonetheless.

I have also not started exercising yet. I do realize I will see better and more consistent results when I begin that. Shawn and I found a treadmill on Craigslist and are heading to Crawfordsville on Saturday to see if it’s a good deal or not. We also signed up for the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon so the treadmill will be a great help for both of us in getting prepared for the race during the winter months.

I wanted to give a special shout out to the person who sent me the encouraging email this morning and about their own personal struggles with food (and for the reminder about my goal of blogging twice a week). It feels good to know that I’m not alone in this. Also, thank you to everyone who has made comments on here and on Facebook. You guys are the best.

You can do it!!!! I am also trying to lose weight. Yuck. I was told to drink 16oz of water before every meal. It will help fill you up and water kick starts your metabolism. My doctor says its true so i am trying it. However i feel like i’m about to float away, hehe!

You are very inspirational. I just had lapband surgery recently, and it has been a struggle. I have lost weight, but it is slow going. I can’t seem to master the exercise thing. I am hoping I can figure it all out and really drop some weight within the coming months.
I could write a book about the times I have lost a lot of weight, put it back on, lost a lot and put it right back on again. I finally broke down and decided on the lapband. I hope it helps me loose, but more than that really, I hope it helps me maintain!! :) I am keeping you in prayer as you begin your weight loss journey. Many Blessings!

Oh, I am also on thyroid meds. When I took chemo back in 2001, it fried my thyroid. It is a pain to try and fit it all in. I wish I had some suggestions. I just try and take it as soon as I get up and by the time I am ready to eat something, it has been 30-45 min.
